College Transportation

Motorcoach Transportation to/from Campus
On the first and last day of all Summer Study programs at Penn State, our college transportation service provides air-conditioned motorcoaches that will depart from and return to points centrally located in the New York, Philadelphia and Washington, DC metropolitan areas. As past students have found that traveling by motorcoach was a great way to quickly make new friends, we strongly recommend that all students, if possible, arrive and depart together via our motorcoaches.
On the first and last day of our programs at CU-Boulder and UVM, air-conditioned vehicles will be arranged to transfer students and their luggage to/from the airport and campus.
Transportation Fees:
- University of Colorado at Boulder: $55 each way
- University of Vermont: $35 each way
- Penn State: $75 each way
Creative Travel – Our Air Travel Affiliate
For students traveling by air, Summer Study offers college transportation via Creative Travel, our travel affiliate. Creative Travel will handle all airline reservations and ticketing to ensure complete college transportation coordination (so that all students will arrive at the same time) and to allow students from the same area to travel together. We cannot guarantee meeting students not ticketed by and coordinated through Creative Travel. We thank you in advance for cooperating with the described travel requirements.
Airport Information
All Summer Study students traveling by air will be met upon arrival at the designated airport (see below) at the beginning of their program. At the end of their program, Summer Study staff will return to the designated airport with students for their flights home. We recommend flying into the following airports:
- University of Colorado at Boulder: Denver International Airport
- University of Vermont: Burlington International Airport
- Penn State*: New York's LaGuardia or John F. Kennedy International Airport.
*As there is no major airport near Penn State, for our INTERNATIONAL and "OUT OF TOWN" students, we strongly recommend that you fly into the New York area either 1 or 2 nights before the program begins. Summer Study staff will be available at LaGuardia and JFK airports to receive students who arrive 1 night before the start of our program and will lodge with our arriving students at a nearby hotel (Supplemental Fee: $140). Students enrolled in our 6-week Triple Play program, 3½-week enrichment program or the first 2-week Intensive Workshop program (July 3 - 16) have the option to arrive in New York 2 nights before the start of the program. Meals and chaperoned events during their stay, including a full day of sightseeing in New York City, will be included (Supplemental Fee: $495).
College Transportation for Summer Study at the Sorbonne in Paris Students
Creative Travel has secured the lowest possible round-trip rate for our flights from New York’s JFK Airport to Paris' Charles DeGaulle Airport and return. All reservations, ticketing and boarding passes must be handled by Creative Travel for all students participating in our Summer Study at the Sorbonne programs, unless frequent flyer mileage is being used for a ticket on our same exact flights. No exceptions will be made. Creative Travel will also coordinate all returning flights for students returning to or connecting through New York and for foreign students flying to other destinations.
- U.S. Students: Creative Travel and Summer Study staff will coordinate all flight arrangements into JFK Airport and meet all New York metropolitan area students as well as students connecting in New York from other U.S. cities.
- International Students: Creative Travel will coordinate the arrival of foreign students into Paris with the flight arriving from the United States. Summer Study personnel will be at the airport to greet all arriving students arranged through Creative Travel.
